Our Adoption Process

When you adopt a dog from Swamp Haven, you’re not just saving a life. You’re beginning a journey filled with love, loyalty and trust. Life can be busy and stressful. The companionship of a dog is a constant reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things.

At Swamp Haven, our mission isn’t to just help shelter dogs find their forever homes. Our mission is to create a lasting relationship with you and your family.

Adopt happiness. Our adoption process is unique in that we work with you every step of the way to ensure that we’re placing the right dog with the right family. First, we like to have a phone chat to get a feel for the kind of dog that you’re looking for. Next, we have you fill out a foster application. After that, we come to your house with a carload of dogs for you to choose from and have you foster the dog of your choosing for a week to make sure that it’s a good fit. The last step is to finalize the adoption. And then congrats, you’re a new member of the Swamp Haven family and your happy tail has just begun!

Our adoption fee is $350.

It started with one, Buford. We didn’t know much about Swamp Haven at first. We learned about them from friends, who had recently adopted an abandoned puppy (a momma Rose pup). We were still grieving the loss of our beagle, Mac. But it felt lonely with just one pup in...
