About Me

Chief was surrendered to our friends at Dogtown St. Augustine in 2018 when his then mom was trying to get him out of the middle of her and her husband’s abusive relationship. Chief came to Dogtown with a lump on his side that the vet said developed due to “blunt force trauma” to that area. Chief spent a little time getting healthy and happy at Dogtown and then was adopted out to a family. Chief spent two years with that family, learning how to behave well on a leash, to not counter surf, and to share his bones with his doggy sibling. Chief finally had the stability he deserved. We are sad to hear that now, due to family reasons, Chief is back with Dogtown without the stability and home he came to know as his own. Swamp Haven has taken over the search to find Chief the home that he so hopes will finally be his forever one. Chief is a loving, affectionate seven year old blue tick coonhound. He is a true hound lovers delight. He is a talkative houndy and has a nose that spots any crumb or food left unattended. Chief would do best in a home without cats and without young children, but he is good with lower energy dogs.
