Fig
Fig was found in the woods covered in tons and tons of ticks. She would shut down over a lots of things, but she was patient, gentle, lit up around dogs, and was only a baby estimated around 10 months old when we got her. As Fig settled into her foster home it did not take long to see that Fig’s fears were a bit out of the normal - by the way she wouldn’t walk through doorways or on slick floors, but she would zoom and roll around in the grass, we began to think maybe poor Fig lived her life before this totally outside.
Figgy’s foster parents were the most patient people ever. They lined their floors with rugs and towels to make pathways for her while she adjusted, took her to puppy classes to build her confidence, and when Fig walked through the Petsmart doors all on her own the monumental growth Fig had been making over months was not lost on us.
We watched her dress up for each holiday, celebrate her 1st birthday and find her love for the pool. We laughed at her very adorable, silly, and very unique personality, and yet no adopters reached out about her.
Then one day her Foster family reached out with the best message, “Sometimes we forget we are just Fig’s foster, forget that she isn’t already ours. We believe she came to us for a reason, and it even so happens her estimated birthday is our wedding anniversary! We want to make Fig ours.”
The best part? Her family loves her for exactly who she is, quirks and all, and are excited to give her whatever time she needs to keep growing - now she has a whole life time of it.
